New SIGNA™ PET/MR feature reduces head motion

MotionFree Brain‡ for SIGNA™ PET/MR is a motion management solution that derives head motion information from PET list data without the need of external tracking devices, input from MR or additional PET data collection. The method incorporates the motion information into the list mode reconstruction, corrects for motion by adjusting the position of each event’s line of response (LOR) and preserves the alignment to the attenuation map.

This method is designed to improve the image quality of brain images without affecting scan time. It may help enhance quantitation accuracy (SUVmean) and volumetric accuracy of lesion size as compared to non-processed (no motioncorrection) data, as shown in initial phantom tests.

MotionFree Brain is compatible with all SIGNA™ PET/MR and PET head reconstruction corrections and features. It’s intended for head imaging with steady-state PET tracer distributions.
